When silence is the point of the file

Some posts need the picture and nothing else: a mute demo for a product page, a background loop under new narration, a clip whose original music you are not cleared to redistribute, or a classroom recording that captured other students in the room. Choosing a source file that survives mute cleanly

Start from the highest clean encode you already have. Removing audio does not repair a blurry upload or a heavy compression mess. If you still have the camera original, mute that and keep a copy of the sounding master in archive storage.

Variable-frame-rate phone recordings can confuse some players after a re-encode. If the silent export stutters, convert the source to a constant frame rate in your editor first, then mute again. Most phone clips from recent devices transfer without that step.

File size, prepare time, and the short download window

A silent export is often slightly smaller than the original because the audio bytes are gone, but a long 1080p or 4K picture stream still weighs a lot. The 150 MB free ceiling still applies to the finished download. Check the size before you rely on a free slot for a long clip.

The prepared file expires on a short timer. Start the transfer while the page is in front of you. Keep the tab open until the browser finishes writing the file. Leaving the job overnight and returning later usually means converting again.

After you have the silent clip

Name the file so your future self can tell mute from master. Store the sounding original somewhere safe if you may need the dialogue later; this export does not preserve a recoverable soundtrack.
