Two journeys, and that is the whole list
Using this page involves exactly two transfers. An address goes from your device to our servers. A video file comes from our servers to your device. There is no third hop that copies your photos, your documents, or a list of other tabs you have open.
Knowing that is useful on a shared computer, on a work laptop, and on a phone where you count every megabyte. The address is tiny. The video file is the transfer that spends data and fills storage. The sections below take each of the two transfers in turn, then cover what the page cannot touch and what remains after you close the tab.
People search for ways to save video online when they want a copy they control. The browser is the client. The servers do the reading of the source page. Your device only sends text and later receives bytes you asked for.
Going out: the address, and nothing attached to it
When you press Analyze, the text sitting in the box is sent. That is a web address, usually under two hundred characters, and sending it costs a fraction of a kilobyte. No cookies from the video site travel with that request from your browser, because your browser is not opening the video site during Analyze.
The reading of the video page happens on our servers rather than in your browser. Our servers open the address the way an ordinary visitor browser opens it, with no account and no history behind them. Your own browser does not visit the video source during this step, which is why the result does not depend on what you are signed in to on that site.
If the address is incomplete or points at a page with no playable media, the list comes back empty. That empty result still costs almost nothing in data, because only the short address went out and only a short status came back. You can correct the address and press Analyze again without spending a free download.
Coming back: one video file
The results list arrives first, and it is text: a height, a size, and a format for each row the page publishes. That list is small. It tells you what you are about to pull before you commit storage and mobile data.
When you press Download file, the video is fetched on the server side and handed to your browser, which writes it to storage. This second transfer is the one that spends your data allowance, and its size is the figure printed on the row. A 220 MB row uses about 220 MB of your connection and occupies about 220 MB of your storage.
Leave the tab open until the browser finishes writing. A prepared file sits behind a short timer. If you close the tab mid-transfer, you may get a partial file that will not play. Delete a bad partial, press Download file again, and wait for the transfer to complete before you open the file in a player.
The page cannot reach files you already have
A web page running in a browser has no route to your documents, your photographs, or your drives. Reading a file from your device requires you to select it in a file picker, and this page has no file picker for local media.
There is one input on the page and it accepts text. Everything else on your device stays outside the browser reach, including the videos you saved here yesterday. The page cannot delete those older files, rename them, or upload them somewhere else on its own.
That boundary is why a library computer and a locked-down work laptop can still run this flow. The browser sandbox already blocks silent access to disk. This tool stays inside that model: text in, one chosen file out.
No program, no extension, no permission prompt
There is no program to download, no browser extension to approve, and no permission dialog to accept for microphone, camera, or contacts. The page asks only for the ordinary browser ability to download a file you requested.
That matters on a machine where you cannot install software, such as a library computer, a school machine, or a work laptop under a management policy. A page in a browser needs none of those install rights. It also means there is nothing to uninstall when you finish, apart from the video file you deliberately saved.
Extensions that claim to save video often request broad site access. This page does not. If your organization blocks unknown installers but allows ordinary HTTPS pages, this is the path that still works without a help-desk ticket.
What stays on the device afterwards
Your browser keeps its own record of the download, exactly as it does for any other file, and that record appears in the downloads list. The video itself sits in the folder your browser saves to.
On a shared computer both of those are visible to the next person who sits down, so clear the entry from the downloads list and move or delete the file when the machine is not yours. On your own phone, the file remains until you remove it from Files, Photos, or Downloads.
Free use allows three downloads a day and 150 MB per file, with the count returning at midnight UTC. Pro raises those limits and removes ads. Analyze does not subtract from the daily count. Only Download file does. Rename opaque default filenames after the save so you can find the clip later without opening every file.
Shared networks, metered plans, and timing
On hotel Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot, prefer a row whose size fits the session you have. The size column is the planning tool. Starting a 400 MB transfer minutes before you leave a café is how transfers die halfway.
If several people share one free account day across tabs, the three-download ceiling is shared by presses of Download file, not by Analyze. Coordinate who will save before you press, or use Pro when the daily count is the bottleneck rather than file size.
Public machines may also wipe downloads on logout. Move the file to personal storage before you sign out if you need to keep it. The browser download history can still show the filename even after the file is gone, so clear that history on a shared PC when privacy matters.
Questions about working in a browser
Do I need to install anything to use this?
No. The page runs in your browser with no program, extension, or permission dialog beyond the ordinary file download. The only thing that arrives on your device is the video file itself.
Does my computer connect to the video website?
No. Our servers open the address and read the page. Your browser sends the address to us and receives the finished video file back from us.
Can this page see the files already on my device?
No. A web page reaches local files only through a file picker that you operate yourself, and there is no file picker for local videos on this page.
How much data does the whole process use?
The address costs a fraction of a kilobyte. The download itself is the size printed on the row you chose, and that is where nearly all the data goes.
Does using this on a shared computer leave a trace?
The browser records the download in its own list, and the file sits in the downloads folder. Clear the entry and move or delete the file when the machine is not yours.
Does being signed in to the video site change what I get?
No. Our servers read the page as an anonymous visitor, so your own signed-in state on that site has no effect on what appears in the results list.
