How double shortening happens

A person copies a t.co or similar short link into another shortener for a newsletter or a bio. Your clipboard then holds the outer short link. One redirect may not be enough to reveal the watch page if a landing page sits in the middle.

Open the link in a browser. Allow the redirects. When a real video player is on screen, copy the address from the bar and paste that into Vidzilla. That final address is the one Analyze can read as a single public video.

Double shortening is common in email signatures, affiliate bios, and group chats where someone re-shares an already shortened URL. The outer link is not broken; it simply is not yet the watch page.

When to paste the outer short link anyway

If the short link jumps straight to a public watch page with no interstitial, pasting the short link here is fine. Redirects are followed to the video during Analyze.

If the hop stops on a survey, app install pitch, or countdown gate, do not fight the short link inside the paste box. Complete or skip the gate in your browser, then copy the final video address from the address bar.

Countdown pages and “continue to video” gates have their own addresses. Those addresses are not the video. Pasting the gate URL is a common reason for an empty list on an otherwise good chain.

Analyze the address that plays

Paste the final https address, press Analyze, and choose a row by size and resolution. Free use allows three downloads a day and 150 MB per file. Pro raises those limits and removes ads.

Press Download file and leave the tab open until the transfer finishes. The file lands on your device in the browser’s normal download location. Rename the finished file if the default name is opaque, and keep the extension so players recognize it.

Following a short link or redirect during Analyze does not spend a free download. Only a completed Download file transfer counts against the three free saves each day.

Tracking wrappers in email

Newsletter links often wrap the real URL in a click-tracking host. Opening the link once in a browser usually unwraps it. Copy from the address bar after the player loads rather than from the raw email source.

Raw email HTML can show a tracking domain that never resolves to a public player when pasted here. One click in the mail client, wait for the player, then copy—that sequence avoids empty lists caused by wrappers.

If your mail client opens links inside an in-app browser that never shows a full address bar, use “Open in browser” or share the link out to Chrome or Safari, then copy from there.

Empty lists on wrapped links

If Analyze returns nothing, the chain never reached a public video, or the video requires sign-in. Inspect the final page in a private window. If you see a login wall, members gate, or deleted notice, the empty list is the correct answer.

Channel pages, playlists, and search results also return empty because they hold many videos. Open one watch page and copy that single address instead of the list URL.

Private shares that open only after sign-in stay empty here because our servers carry no account for that host. Use a video anyone can watch without logging in.

Permissions for link-driven video saves

Pressing Download file after Analyze copies a published encoding to your device. That copy does not transfer the publisher's rights to you. Use links for videos you are entitled to keep.

Redirects that reach a public player are fine; redirects that stop on a landing page fail. Free daily counts measure tool use, not a license grant. Keep finished files for personal viewing unless the source allows more.

Vidzilla is not affiliated with the sites whose pages you paste and cannot grant permission for someone else’s work. An empty list on a gated page is not a bug to work around.

Finishing the transfer on video link download

After Analyze lists rows, pick one by resolution and size, then press Download file. Leave the tab open until the browser finishes writing the file to disk. A prepared file sits behind a short timer; closing early leaves a partial download.

On a phone, stay on Wi-Fi for large files and keep the screen awake until the transfer completes. On a computer, avoid suspending the machine mid-transfer.

Free use allows three downloads a day and 150 MB per file. Pro raises those limits and removes ads. If the only row above 150 MB is the one you need, upgrade or pick a smaller row that still fits the screen you will watch on.

Questions about shortened video links

Can I paste a bit.ly of a t.co link?

Yes if it lands on a public video. If it stops on a gate, open it in your browser, reach the video player, and copy the final address from the bar.

Why did the short link return empty?

The hop landed on a page without a single public video, or the video is gated. Check the final page logged out in a private window.

Should I expand the link by hand?

Opening it in a browser is enough. Copy the address bar once the player is visible. You do not need a separate expand tool for ordinary shorteners.

Do redirects cost a free download?

No. Following a short link or redirect during Analyze does not spend a free download. Only a completed Download file transfer counts against the three free saves each day.

What are the free limits?

Three downloads a day and 150 MB per file. The count resets at midnight UTC. Pro raises those limits and removes ads.

Where does the file save?

In your browser's download location on that device. Rename after it lands if you want a clearer name, and keep the file extension intact.
