Why a CSV is hard to hand someone
CSV is a text export of columns and rows. Spreadsheet apps open it. Many phones, kiosks, and shared PCs do not. Recipients who only need to read or sign a table stall on the raw file.
Turning the export into PDF freezes the columns onto pages. The reader opens a document viewer instead of hunting for Excel or Sheets.

What survives from the sheet
Cell values become text on the page. Column order follows the CSV. Very wide tables may wrap or spill across pages depending on column count.
Formulas are already gone in a CSV—only computed values remain. Charts and formatting from the original spreadsheet are not inside a plain CSV, so they will not appear in the PDF either.
If readability matters, narrow the export columns in the source sheet before converting. Fixed PDF width cannot invent horizontal space for dozens of columns.
Exports from finance, ops, and CRM tools
Banking portals, inventory systems, and CRM reports often offer CSV as the only download. Those files are meant for analysis, yet managers ask for a printable copy for a meeting.
Convert the export you already have instead of rebuilding the table by hand in a word processor. Spot-check totals on the PDF against the CSV before you circulate it.
Attach the PDF for email review. Archive the CSV beside it when auditors ask how the numbers were produced.
When PDF is the wrong target
Stay on CSV when the next person must pivot, filter, or import into another database. PDF locks the snapshot.
If you need editable Word instead of a fixed page, convert toward a document format on the universal converter rather than forcing PDF.
Spreadsheet workbooks with multiple sheets are not a single CSV. Export each sheet you need, or use a workbook-oriented path such as XLSX to PDF when that is the real source.

Store the pair together in a project folder so future questions about the numbers have both the printable snapshot and the machine-readable export.
When a meeting only needs a subset of rows, filter the CSV in a spreadsheet first, then convert that filtered export. A shorter table prints clearer than a dense multi-page dump.
If recipients must sign or initial a printed table, leave margin space by limiting columns before conversion rather than shrinking fonts after the fact in a rushed PDF edit.
After you finish, open the result on your device, move keepers into a folder you control, and only then close this tab. That sequence keeps half-written files and lost downloads out of your next session.
