Three places a Facebook video can live
Almost every Facebook video you will want to save sits in one of three places: a post written by a person on their own profile, a video published by a Page, or a Reel. They look similar in a feed and they behave differently once you copy the address, so it is worth knowing which one is in front of you.
To tell them apart, open the video on its own and read the address bar. Each of the three writes itself out in a recognisable way, described below.
A video posted on a personal profile
This is somebody posting to their own timeline. Open the post on its own rather than scrolling past it in the feed, because a feed address points at the feed and not at any one item. Use the timestamp under the author's name; clicking it opens the single post.
The address that appears then names the author and carries a long numeric identifier for the post, often after the words posts or videos. That whole address is what goes in the box. A profile address on its own, with nothing after the name, stands for the person rather than for a video, and it returns nothing.
A video published by a Page
Pages belong to businesses, publishers, and public figures, and their video is generally published for anyone to watch. Page video also turns up in the Watch section of the site, which is a viewer rather than a separate home for the file.
Open the video itself and copy the address. It carries the Page name and a numeric video identifier. Of the three kinds, this is the one that most often reads cleanly, because a Page usually has no reason to restrict who can see its output.
A Reel and its short address
A Reel is a short vertical video with its own address shape: the word reel followed by a number. There is no author name in it and nothing else attached, so it stands out from the other two at a glance.
Copy it from the address bar on a computer, or from the share menu on a phone by choosing Copy link. Take the whole thing, including the number. Cutting the number off leaves an address that stands for the Reels section rather than for the Reel you were watching.
Which of the three usually needs a signed-in viewer
The profile post is the one that most often comes back empty. People set their personal posts to friends only, to a custom list, or to themselves, and a video posted inside a group is limited to the people in that group. Vidzilla reads every page as a signed-out visitor, so any of those settings ends the job before it starts.
Page video and Reels are usually public, so they read more often. There is a straightforward way to check before you paste anything.

How do I tell a Reel address from a Page video address?
A Reel address contains the word reel followed by a number and nothing else. A Page video address carries the Page name along with a numeric video identifier.

A feed address stands for the whole feed, which has no single file behind it. Click the timestamp on the post to open it alone, then copy the address that appears.
A Watch address and a video address look different. Are they the same video?
Watch is a viewing section rather than a separate location for the file. Open the video on its own page and copy that address, which identifies one video.
The video is in a group I belong to. Why does it return an empty list?
Group content is served only to members who are signed in. Vidzilla reads pages signed out, so a group post gives it nothing at all.
Which of the three types works most reliably?
Video published by a Page, because Pages are generally public. Personal profile posts fail most often, since people restrict them to friends or to a smaller list.
Does the mobile address with an extra prefix in front of the host name work?
