Save an item from a Reddit gallery

A gallery is one post with several stored files

Reddit lets an author attach a set of photographs and clips to a single submission. Readers swipe or tap through dots on the post while the title, votes, and comment thread stay the same. Behind that interface each slide is its own stored file with its own size and type.

When you paste the post address into Vidzilla, Analyze has to decide which of those files to describe. On many gallery posts the first item is what the page presents as the primary media, so the results list describes that first file. If you came for the fourth photograph or the only video in a mixed set, that default is the wrong answer, and the fix is to open the item you care about until the address bar names that item, then paste that address instead.

Treating a gallery as one download is a common mistake. Five slides means five separate files and five separate Download file presses if you want the whole set. Plan which slides matter before you spend free daily downloads on the wrong ones.

How to point Analyze at the slide you want

Open the gallery on Reddit. Advance until the slide you need fills the viewer. Copy the address from the browser bar while that slide is visible. On many clients the address gains a reference to the current item when you do this; paste that full string into the box on this page and press Analyze.

If the address never changes as you flip slides, open the item through Reddit’s own “open image” or share control for that slide when the client offers one. The goal is an address that resolves to one media object rather than only to the container post.

After Analyze finishes, read the format label and the size on each row. A still image returns a picture file at the uploaded dimensions. A video slide returns height and megabyte figures the same way a normal Reddit video post does. Confirm the type matches what you saw on screen before you press Download file.

Mixed galleries: photographs and clips in one post

Authors often mix three stills with one short clip in a single gallery. The results list does not invent a combined archive. It describes the single item your pasted address points at. Paste a photograph address and you get a picture. Paste a clip address and you get video rows.

That split matters for storage and for the free 150 MB ceiling. Stills are usually a few megabytes. Clips can land in the tens of megabytes. The size printed on the row is the figure that counts against the free ceiling when you are not on Pro.

If you need both a still and a clip from the same post, run two jobs. Rename each file as soon as it lands so a later folder full of similarly named downloads is still readable.

Private communities and removed posts

A gallery inside a private or restricted community serves a login or join page to anyone outside the community. Vidzilla does not hold your Reddit session, so Analyze sees that gate instead of the media and returns an empty list. That empty list is accurate for an address the public web cannot read.

A removed or deleted post behaves the same way from the outside: there is no media object left to list. If the post still opens for you while signed in but Analyze returns nothing, you are reading a view that depends on your cookies. Copy will not help until the media is reachable without that session.

Crossposts and mirrors can point at a different community’s copy of the same gallery. Prefer the original post address when both exist, and confirm the item you open is the one you intend to keep.

Free daily downloads and multi-item posts

Free use on Vidzilla covers three downloads per day with a 150 MB ceiling on each file. Every Download file press counts, including each slide from one gallery. A ten-item gallery will blow through free capacity if you try to empty it in one sitting.

Work out the two or three slides you actually need. Take those first. The free count resets at midnight UTC. Pro removes the daily count, the size ceiling, and the advertising if you regularly need full galleries.

Keep the tab open until each transfer finishes. A prepared file sits behind a short timer; leaving the page mid-transfer abandons that preparation and spends the attempt without a useful file on disk.

After the file lands

On a computer the file appears in your usual Downloads folder. On a phone it lands in device storage or the Files app, depending on the browser. Open the file once to confirm the still looks sharp or the clip plays with sound when the source had audio.

Gallery items from one post often arrive with similar generated names. Rename them immediately with a short note about which slide they were. If you are collecting stills for a deck or a report, move them into a dated folder so tomorrow’s downloads do not mix with today’s.

Respect the author and the community rules. Saving a file for personal reference is not the same as reposting it elsewhere with the credit stripped. The file on your disk does not change that obligation.
