What “save to computer” means here

Saving to your computer means the browser writes a finished video file into the Downloads folder (or the folder you chose in browser settings). It is not a bookmark, not a Watch Later entry, and not a screenshot of the player. The product is bytes on disk that open in a local player when you are offline.

Vidzilla reads the public watch page you paste, lists the encodings that page publishes, and lets you download one row. The heavy reading runs on our servers. Your computer still carries the transfer over your network into local storage.

Use a real watch address that opens one video. Channel pages, search results, and homepage URLs are not single-video targets. Open the video you want until the address bar shows that item, then copy.

Copy the watch address cleanly

On a computer, click the address bar on the YouTube watch page and copy the full string. On a phone, use Share and Copy link, then send that link to yourself if you plan to finish on the computer with more disk space.

Clean the paste before Analyze. Messaging apps add brackets and preview text. Documents add a trailing period. Delete those characters so the address is one unbroken https string.

Shortened links often resolve after a redirect. If Analyze returns nothing, open the short link in your browser, wait for the final watch page, and copy that longer address.

Pick a combined row, not a lonely stream

After Analyze, each row shows a format label, a height, and a size in megabytes. Prefer a combined row that already holds picture and sound together. Separate video-only or audio-only rows are useful for editors; they are not a finished movie by themselves if you only press Download once on a video-only line.

Match the row to the screen you care about. A mid-height row is enough for a laptop commute. A taller row suits a television or an edit timeline, as long as the size fits free disk space and the free 150 MB ceiling when you are not on Pro.

Read the title or thumbnail cues in the results so you confirm the page you meant. Spending a free download on the wrong video wastes one of the three free downloads available per day.

  • Combined picture-and-sound rows are the usual choice for watching offline.
  • Larger megabyte figures at the same height usually keep more detail.
  • Keep the tab open until the browser marks the download complete.

Where the file lands on Windows, macOS, and Linux

Most desktop browsers save into a Downloads folder under your user profile. Open that folder, sort by date, and find the newest video file. If nothing appears, check the browser’s download shelf or download history for an error or a blocked permission.

You can change the save location in browser settings before you press Download file. That helps when Downloads sits on a small system drive and you want large files on a second disk.

Rename the file with the video title and date once it finishes. Source filenames are often opaque strings. A clear name is what you will search for months later.

Phones versus finishing on the computer

You can Analyze on a phone, but large files are easier on a computer with Wi-Fi and disk space. Copy the YouTube address from the phone, paste it here on the computer, and download once.

On unstable mobile data, prefer a smaller row or wait for Wi-Fi. Closing the tab mid-transfer abandons a preparation that still counted toward free use when the download started.

Corporate networks that block YouTube will also block the fetch. An empty list in that case matches what any unsigned visitor would see from that network.

Free daily limits, size ceiling, and Pro

Free use allows three downloads per day with a 150 MB ceiling on each file. When every row is larger than 150 MB, pick a smaller encoding or use Pro, which removes the daily count, the size ceiling, and the advertising on the page.

The count resets at midnight UTC. Plan which three videos matter if you are on free use. Pro is the path when offline archives are a daily habit rather than an occasional save.

Private, members-only, rental, and age-gated pages that you cannot play in a normal browser without special access will not yield a public file here. Analyze returns an empty list, which is the accurate answer for that address.

After the file is on disk

Open the file in a local player once to confirm picture and sound. If sound is missing, you may have downloaded a video-only row; run Analyze again and choose a combined row.

Move finished files into a dated folder if you save often. That keeps today’s downloads from mixing with last month’s opaque filenames.

Download material you own, material licensed for reuse, or material the rights holder said you may keep. A public watch page is not automatic permission to re-upload elsewhere.

Questions about saving YouTube to a computer

Where does the file go on my PC?

Usually the Downloads folder for your user account. Check the browser download shelf if you do not see it in the folder yet.

Why is there no sound?

You chose a video-only row. Analyze again and pick a combined picture-and-sound row.

Can I paste a channel URL?

No. Open one watch page, copy that single address, and paste it here.

How many saves do I get free?

Three downloads per day, each up to 150 MB. Pro removes those limits and ads.

Do I need an account?

No account is required for ordinary public watch pages. Stay on the tab until the transfer finishes.

The list is empty for a video I can play while signed in. Why?

Members-only and session-only videos are not readable without your login. Vidzilla sees the public page for that address.
