Douyin gives out two shapes of address

The app produces a short address built from a handful of characters after the host name. The website produces a longer one that spells out the word video and then a long number. Both of them stand for the same post, and either can go into the box above.

The short one is the one most people have, because it is what the share sheet copies. Paste it whole. Deleting the characters after the code, or trimming what looks like clutter, leaves an address that no longer identifies the post.

The short address is a redirect, and that is fine

A short Douyin address does not hold the video. It holds an instruction to send the visitor somewhere else, and the place it sends them is the real post page. Analyze follows that instruction the same way a browser does, so the redirect costs you nothing.

One case ends differently. If the redirect stops on a promotional page, a download prompt for the app, or the front page of the site, there is no single post at the end of the chain and the results come back empty. Open the short address in a browser yourself, let it settle, and copy the address you end up on.

When the app opens instead of the browser

On a phone with Douyin installed, tapping a Douyin address usually hands the link to the app. The app plays the video and never shows you an address bar, which is why people get stuck at this step.

Work around it with the share sheet rather than the address bar.

• Open the post in the app and press the share arrow.
• Choose Copy link. The address goes to your clipboard even though no browser opened.
• Switch to your browser, open this page, and long-press the box to paste.
• If the address arrives with a sentence of promotional text around it, delete the words and keep the address.

Some posts carry a watermark and some do not

A watermark is drawn into the picture by the publisher before the file is served. When a post carries one, every copy of that file carries it, including the one you save here. Nothing on this page paints it out, because doing so would mean re-encoding somebody else's video.

Whether a given post has one depends on how it was published. Some creators upload footage that already has their own mark on it. Others post material with a clean frame. Play a few seconds of the source before you download if the mark matters to you, because what you see there is what the file contains.

A post restricted to viewers inside China

Douyin serves some material only to visitors in mainland China. When the post you pasted is one of those, the page returns a notice rather than a video, and an empty results list is the accurate answer to that.

Two other cases look identical from here and are worth separating. A post the creator deleted is gone for everyone. An account set to private serves nothing to a signed-out visitor, and Vidzilla reads every page signed out. In all three situations the fix is on the source side, not in the address you pasted.

What free use covers for short clips

Douyin posts are short, so the rows Analyze returns are usually a few megabytes each. A free account covers 3 downloads a day and any single file up to 150 MB, and a clip of that length rarely comes close to the ceiling.
