Threads posts vs the feed itself

A Threads feed scrolls through many posts. A download needs one post that actually carries video. Open that post until you can copy a link that points at the single item, not at your home timeline.

Public posts that play video in a normal browser session are the ones this page can read. Private profiles, follower-only posts, and deleted items do not expose a media file for Analyze to list.

Threads belongs to the same family of Meta apps many people already use for photos and Reels. The paste-and-download pattern is familiar: copy the post link, analyze, pick a row, save the file.

Copying the link from the phone share sheet

On iPhone or Android, open the Threads post, tap Share, then tap Copy link. Switch to this Vidzilla page in your browser, paste into the box, and run Analyze. Leave the browser tab open until Download file finishes.

If Share only offers in-app destinations and no Copy link control, open the post in a mobile browser session where the address bar shows a normal https link. That address is what Analyze needs.

Desktop browsers can open the same public post URL. When the video plays in the browser, the address in the bar is usually ready to paste. Avoid copying a truncated preview from a messaging app if the full post URL is available.

• Copy the post link, not a screenshot of the video.
• Confirm the post still plays while you are signed out or in a normal public view.
• Paste the full https address into the tool box before you press Analyze.

What the Analyze rows mean for Threads clips

Analyze lists the encodings Threads (or its CDN) already published for that post. Each row shows a resolution and a size. Taller rows are larger files. Shorter rows finish sooner and use less storage.

The tool does not invent a sharper picture than the publisher encoded. If the post only offers one practical encoding, you will see one row. That is an inventory of what exists, not a quality booster.

Vertical phone video is normal on Threads. The saved file keeps that orientation. You do not need a separate “vertical mode.” Players on your phone and computer already handle portrait files.

When Analyze fails on a Threads URL

The most common miss is pasting a profile URL or a topic tag page. Those pages list many posts and do not point at one video file. Open the individual post and copy again.

Login walls and region blocks can stop a public fetch even when your own app still plays the clip. If the same link refuses to play in a private browser window, Analyze will not find media either.

A post that once worked can fail after the author deletes it or changes visibility. Treat a sudden empty list as a source change first, then try a different public post as a control.

Keeping Threads clips for work and personal archives

Creators save their own posts for portfolios. Journalists and researchers archive public statements that may scroll away. Teachers save short explainers that appeared in the feed.

Rename the file with a date and a short topic after it lands. Threads filenames from a CDN are not meaningful six months later. A clear local name is part of making the download worth doing.

Respect the author’s rights when you reuse someone else’s clip. A file on your disk does not grant permission for ads, paid courses, or republishing under your brand.

Free use, size ceiling, and finishing the transfer

You can download without creating an account. Free use allows three downloads per day and 150 MB per file. Many Threads clips sit under that ceiling; long high-resolution posts may not.

If a row exceeds 150 MB on a free session, pick a smaller encoding when one exists, or use Pro for a higher size limit. Pro also raises the daily count and removes ads.

Progress appears in the browser’s download UI. Closing the tab mid-transfer can leave a partial file. Wait for the browser to mark the download complete, then open the clip once to confirm audio and picture.

Related Meta and social workflows

If the same creator cross-posts to Instagram, you may prefer the Instagram page when that link is cleaner. If the clip also lives on X or TikTok, use the host whose public page you can open without friction.

This Threads page stays focused on Threads post URLs. Mixing hosts on one paste is unnecessary. Paste the address from the app where you actually found the video.
