Status links are the unit of work

X videos live on posts. The address you need looks like a status URL for one post, not a home timeline, not a search, and not a Community landing page. When that status plays video publicly, Analyze can list the encodings behind the player.

People still search for “Twitter video download” while the product UI says X. Both names refer to the same post links you copy from the app or from x.com in a browser.

A profile page shows many posts. Pasting a profile URL does not select one video. Open the post, copy its share link, and paste that status address here.

Copying from the X app without losing the URL

In the app, open the post, tap Share, then Copy link. Switch to your browser tab with this page, paste, and run Analyze. On desktop, use the share icon on the post or copy from the address bar when the status is open.

Some clients copy a shortened link. That is fine when it resolves to the public status. If Analyze fails, open the link once in a browser, let the final status URL appear, and copy again from the address bar.

Spaces, live broadcasts that have not finished, and posts that only show a link card without native video are different jobs. This page targets native video attached to a status.

  • Use a single status URL with video in the post.
  • Confirm the video plays while the post is public.
  • Avoid pasting a timeline, list, or Community home address.

Rows, sizes, and phone-first clips

Analyze returns the encodings X already prepared. Short clips are often small. Longer recordings climb quickly in megabytes, especially at higher resolutions.

Vertical clips stay vertical in the saved file. Landscape recordings stay landscape. Orientation is a property of the published encoding, not a filter you toggle here.

If you are on the free tier, check the size column against the 150 MB ceiling before you spend a daily download on a row that cannot finish under free rules.

Failure modes that look like tool errors

Protected accounts, blocked regions, and deleted posts produce empty results even when a screenshot still exists on your phone. The public fetch can only read what a normal public view can play.

Age-gated or login-walled media can play inside your logged-in app while failing in a logged-out browser fetch. If a private window cannot play the post, Analyze will not invent access.

Posts that only quote another video sometimes confuse people into pasting the quote tweet without the media. Open the post that actually hosts the player and copy that status.

GIFs, images, and banners are neighboring jobs

X “GIFs” are often short videos. If you specifically need a GIF-style loop from X, the dedicated GIF page may match your search language better, but a video row from this page still saves the motion.

Profile banners and avatars are images, not status videos. Use the banner tool when you need the header artwork rather than a post clip.

Keeping this page focused on status video avoids mixing three different paste types in one confused run.

Free use and storing news or research clips

No account is required for free downloads within three per day and 150 MB per file. Pro raises limits and removes ads. The file you keep sits on your device after the browser finishes writing it.

Journalists and researchers often archive public posts that may be deleted later. Rename with a date and a short slug so the archive remains searchable on your own disk.

Copyright and platform rules still apply. A successful download is not permission to repost monetized content as your own commercial asset.

After Download file on an X clip

Open the file once to confirm audio sync and resolution. Move keepers out of the browser downloads folder into a topic folder so automatic cleanup does not erase them.

If you only need a segment, trim after the full file lands. Trimming first on a partial download risks a corrupt cut.

When the same event also appears on YouTube or a news site, choose the host whose public page is most stable for your archive. Consistency beats collecting five near-duplicate encodings of the same moment.

Take a moment after the transfer to confirm the result on your own device, store the keeper where you will find it later, and leave this tab only when the browser reports the file is complete. That habit prevents half-written downloads and misplaced keepers when you run the same tool again tomorrow.

Questions about X / Twitter video downloads

Do Twitter.com links still work after the X rename?

Public status URLs that open the post with video still work as paste targets. Use the final address that plays the clip in a browser.

Can I paste a home timeline URL?

No. Copy one status that contains the video. Timelines and search pages are not a single media file.

Why is there no row taller than what I saw in the app?

Rows mirror encodings X published. This page does not create a sharper master than the post already has.

What about X Spaces audio?

This page targets native video on a status. Spaces recordings belong on the Spaces-oriented tool when you need that audio path.

Is a login required on Vidzilla?

No for ordinary free use. You paste a public post URL; you do not sign into X through this page.

The post plays for me but Analyze is empty. Why?

Your app session may see media a public fetch cannot. Test the same link in a logged-out browser window. If it fails there, Analyze cannot list it.
